Since 1981, the Asian American Journalists Association (AAJA) has advocated on behalf of AAPIs in newsrooms on the front lines for stronger representation and more inclusion. We are proud to stand on the shoulders of our fearless founders.
From the beginning, AAJA Photo has been a part of AAJA with the sole purpose of supporting our photojournalist members through social, professional, and charitable events.

Our Leadership Team is committed to supporting our members.
We have built a strong foundation of leaders and programming that will give our members and future generations of visual journalists the support and training they need to succeed in this profession that we love. Our passion and dedication are the driving forces that will ensure our members work with integrity and uphold photojournalism’s code of ethics. In 2024, our leadership team was recognized as the AAJA’s Affinity Group Leaders of the Year.

Learn, Get Inspired, & Join Our Community
We created Photo Hangouts, a FREE photo-centric programming hosted at our annual convention, which includes portfolio reviews, photo workshops, lectures, and panel discussions from experts, sharing sessions, and social mixers. Our members now look forward to attending the convention, not just for the learning aspect, but for the camaraderie and the community we have built.
